Thor's Bifrost Bridge Thingy

This weekend we ordered Thor on demand. (He-he, don't I wish!) Really liked the movie. Every time they showed the Bifrost Bridge, at least I think that's what it was, my husband would say: "That's a really cool bridge." And it is. Thor called it a sort of rainbow bridge. It was like a subtle prism with mid-range colors.

So I had cool tones and icy things on the brain when I made this mani:

Polishes:

O.P.I.What's With The Cattitude?, Borghese Patina Pearl, LA Colors (no name) glitter, O.P.I. Ogre The Top

 

I started with one coat of What's With The Cattitude?, then sponged Ogre The Top over that. 

Over the entire nail, I added a coat of Pearl Patina, then finished with the LA Colors glitter. The glitter has multicolor shimmers under white. 

With just the side of the sponge painted with What's With The Cattitude? I made stride marks on the nail beds, to simulate icicles. 

I applied matte topcoat which seemed to encase everything under glass, like the Bifrost Bridge in Thor.

At least, that's what I thought at 2 am.

Sugar Nails

I didn't know what to name this. 

I thought they looked like sugary nails.

These are the nails I used.

L-R:LA Colors white glitter, Borghese Patina Pearl, Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud, Kiss Nail Art Paint Pink Glitter & Gold Glitter, CG Boundless Color Ruby Dust

•  One coat of Lavender Cloud over the white tips.
• Three coats of Patina Pearl over Lavender Cloud tips.
• LA Colors white glitter from tip to mid-tip.
• CG Ruby Dust over nail bed to mid-tip (meeting edge of white glitter).
• Kiss Nail Art paint pink glitter at bottom of white tip.
• Kiss Nail Art paint gold glitter swipes on white tip.

• I used fimo slices of butterflies, ladybugs, dragonflies, and a few leaves.
• And added different colored rhinestones.

I got this hand-made bead ring from the balloon fiesta last month.

I like how they turned out. And they're fun for me to look at. :D

Limoncello & Marino

It's almost time for me to remove my Kiss nails. I wanted to do something with them though before that.

• Two coats of the Borghese Rapidos
• Another coat of Milani Charmed
• Limoncello over the pearls. (I used my dotter to cover the pearls)
• One coat In the Spotlight over the Borghese Rapidos
• Lined middle with Kiss Silver nail art paint

 I had put so much clear top coat over the stickers to keep them on the nails, they felt pretty smooth and I believed I could paint over them.

I really love the Limoncello and Marino. They really do dry quickly and cover completely in two coats. In the Spotlight is such a cool glitter.  Do you have these polishes? What do yo think of them?

Minnie Mouse inspired nails

In the photo above, I am showing the nail art I wore for a trip to Florida.  After scouring the video webs for ideas, I came up with my own version.
What you'll need:

And a q-tip with an end snipped off for a dotting tool if you don't have a dotting tool.  The red polish is Wet-n-Wild Wet Shine "Red Rouge." Any fast drying top coat will do. Have something to pour some of the white nail paint into, like a pallet. I use a small, old ceramic pan we no longer use.
 This comes in handy too:

This is another video web discovery. It's a lid from a small box. I call it "Non-sticky-sticky-non-sticky." I take a strip of duct tape and put it on the box, in the middle, sticky side up. Turn the ends and secure underneath the lid. Then take another strip of duct tape, and cut it down the center, lengthwise. Each sticky piece goes on either side of the middle piece, sticky side down.
So that's:

1. Non sticky
2. Sticky
3. Non sticky

I can't paint very well with my left hand on my right hand nails. This little lid is a handy way for me to paint the full cover nail blanks, before I glue them on my nails. I can paint about 3 or 4 times on this before I have to change the tape.

Minnie Mouse Inspired Nails:

• Select 10 full cover nails that fit your nails. Press into sticky strip on sticky lid.
• Paint nails red. Let dry.
• Add white dots (from what is poured in the pallet), using your dotting tool.
• Let dry. It's probably best to do this nail art over a couple of days.
• Take black nail art polish and make black bows. (Practice on paper towel if needed). I made triangles connected in the center. They're not perfect but I'm no artist.
• Let dry completely over night.
• Add sliver dots with either brush or dotting tool in the center of each bow.
• Let dry completely. If you rush it, it will smear.
• Apply fast drying top coat.
• Glue to fingernails per directions on box.
