Kiss Everlasting Nails "Salon UV Gel Effect" Update and New Nail Art

It's been 5 days since I put these on.

 So far, everything is still intact. And there is no evidence that water seeped under the nails. Today, I removed the blue polish and the stickers. It took a little bit of filing to get the stickers off.

I decided to quit being a ninny and attempt some free hand nail art.

I saw a technique on youtube for painting french tips. Instead of broad brush strokes, I patted the polish at the french tip bottom edge line, and pulled it up to the tip.

 This is two coats of Sage in the City

 Doing my right hand was not as hard as I thought. But then again, I was just painting lines.

 Polishes:

L-R: Sinful Colors Opal Glitter, Wet n Wild Sage in the City, Kiss Nail Art Paints~Deep Purple, Beach Green, Gold Glitter, Beach Pink, Milani Green

And since I can never leave well enough alone, I added Sinful Colors Opal Glitter over the green.

Mosaic 1 Update

I got a few compliments about this design yesterday.

When I tried to explain how easy it was to create, one lady didn't believe me.  Seriously, I'm no artist. So if I can slap on random nail polish to accomplish this look, anyone can.

Here's how I did it:

I painted all the nails a neutral color. (These are Kiss Oval Active Full Cover glue on nails) I used Revlon's Gray Suede as a base coat.  

When that dried...I got 7 colors (all the colors from the Wet n Wild Nail Pail) ready. I started with 230C Saved By The Blue, swiping it across my thumbnail.

From there I just radomly dabbed or swabbed the other nails with the same color, varying the size.

I went on to do the same with all the other colors. I didn't wait too long for the polish to dry before going on to the next color.

Once I got all the nails painted, I waited for them to dry. After a few minutes, I got a bright pink nail art polish. You can see the stripes in the photo above.  Well, I didn't quite like that so I got out the black nail art polish.

With the black nail art polish, I outlined some of the sections on each nail. Not every section though.

The blue areas seemed really too much in-your-face to me. So I got the white nail art polish and put 3 dot-like marks on the bigger blue sections and 1 dot-like mark on the smaller blue sections. I learned in photography and graphic design classes that visually, 3 of something is more appealing than 2. I forgot a lot of things from college but I never forgot that.

After the polish dried, I swiped clear glitter polish over my nails. When that dried, I applied a clear top coat.  It looks like melted crayons.

It really was easy and a lot of fun. The best thing though is if you don't like the results, you can just take it off with nail polish remover and start over.

Drugstore nail glue Pt2: Failure & Success at the Happiest Place On Earth

In Ought9, my family took a trip to Florida and the Happiest Place On Earth. I had been wearing glue on nails, because I wanted my hands to look nice in the pictures. Up until last week, I've been a chronic nail biter.

There have been only 4x in my life I've stopped biting my nails.

• When I was graduating from high school (1 million years ago)
• When I got married at 20
• When I was pregnant with my first baby
• During a long span of about 2-3 years during the late 90's.

Back to the Happiest Place On Earth...
Unfortunately, and through no fault of our own, we traveled to Florida in May of 2009,  during their most wicked rains ever. It rained EVERY SINGLE DAY for hours. And this was not a light drizzle and done. It was heavy, hard rain. We donned ponchos and slogged through but it was R O U G H.

So there I am, during the first day, standing in front of the Iconic Castle. My french manicure looking lovely in the pictures, but behind us, there are very dark clouds foreshadowing our soggy week to come.

I used brush on glue.  The nail glue did not hold up. By the third day, I was pulling off the nails because of all the water behind them. I was still learning about drugstore glue on nails, and wasn't really prepared for catastrophic nail failure.  I had a tube of the pink glue with me, but once the nails come off re-gluing looks really bad with the french tips. I had not brought any more nails with me. We didn't have a car, so I was stuck with ugly, chewed nails for the rest of the trip.

Fast forward to January 2011...

By then, I'd been wearing glue-on nails for quite awhile. I'd gotten into painting blank glue-on nails with polish. Nailene active square nails are the most comfortable for me. They have a flexible base that sits firmly on my flat nail beds. Knowing we were going back to the Happiest Place on Earth, I wanted to do some nail art to represent the cutest girl mouse in the World.

This time I was super prepared! I brought maximum strength glue, a package of Kiss nails that are pre-polished red, and 10 Broadway nails in Zebra print french tips because I wasn't sure the nails pictured would last the whole 8 days we would be without a car in Florida.

We had normal weather, well, except it was cold some days, but no torrential rains. These nails hung on all week! I did pop off one of the thumbs during check-in (but I always have trouble with thumbs staying put). I glued that back on after filing off the dried glue on my nail, and never had a problem with it again.
