Since those early posts, I've been to a Kiss Webinar and seen Par-ee. I won't go back to the Farm of Air Bubbles again! During that Webinar it was stressed that we should all be very generous with the nail glue. That some of it belongs on the artificial nail, and some on the natural nail, because that's what bonds the fake nail to the real nail. I had read that before. I'd tried it and failed. (See Kiss Nails review above).
It was only when I saw the host go through the steps,
when I saw the large amount of glue she put in the well of the upturned artificial nail,
and then on her real nail,
and when I saw her hold the fake nail at the tip,
not pressing on the fake nail,
not mashing it down to her natural nail,
but simply and gently, holding it in place for a few seconds...
I FINALLY SAW THE LIGHT!
HALLELUJAH!
So with this new knowledge at hand (no pun intended), I was excited to give it a try.
Before I get to that I've got some info...
These two boxes are the same nails!
The one on the left is the old box design. It has the wording "Salon UV Gel Effect" under the nails' window. The box on the left is the new cabernet packaging. I thought they were the same nails, but the cabernet/new box does not have "Salon UV Gel Effect" anywhere on it.
To make 100% sure I was thinking correctly, I contacted Kiss and they let me know they are the same nails. Both boxes have the same numbers:
54248
EFS01
So, if you have one of the red/white boxes that has "Salon UV Gel Effect" and want to buy some more, get the cabernet box that's pictured. Match up the numbers if you want to be 100% sure before purchasing.
Now that I have all that taken care of, let me show and tell you what I did!
By now, if you've been following my blog, you'll know that:
- I have super short nail beds. So short that even the "real short" glue on nail lengths with french tips don't always cover the tip of my natural nails.
- I like to paint/polish/decorate my glue on nails before I glue them. I'm not ambidextrous. I can barely polish my right hand nails.
- From the pictures of my first attempt with these nails, I can see the ends of my natural nails under the clear fake nail bed.
- I have FLAT nail beds.
I poured some NYC into a clean jar lid, added some white, mixed it around, added a little of the Color Zone blue glitter, and brushed it on the nail tips. I outlined the edging in the NYC, and then dabbed ever so slightly, some of the LA Colors white glitter. (Because really what couldn't use just a hint of glam?) After removing the guides, I painted a line of blue striper paint under the blue french tips.
I added some white lacy stickers to the thumb nails and ring finger nails.
Following the tips I received from the Kiss Webinar, I squeezed a significantly large amount of glue into the well of the fake nail, and then applied glue to my natural nail. On my problematic nails: traffic fingers and thumb nails, I put even more glue into the fake nail wells, than I had ever before. I held the fake nail to my natural nail at the tip, and waited about 10 seconds before moving on to the next nail.
And here are the results!
I got nails without visible, white air bubbles!
There was one nail that got a noticeable air bubble. It is my pinky (MY PINKY??? On all the bigger nails I did fine. I couldn't believe this happened to my pinky) on my right hand. I decided to cover it with a cute rose sticker.
I tell ya though, 9 out of 10 is not bad!
Last night, for safety, I put a line of glue under my fake nails to form a seal so no water could get between them and my real nails. So far, so good.
Now that I know better what to do with these "Salon Uv Gel Effect" nails, I'm going to be wearing them more often. One of the cool things about Kiss French Tip Nails, that I learned during the Webinar, is that the french white is "built into the nails" with a patented process, and is guaranteed not to chip.
What that means for me is that when I get tired of this blue on my nails, I can use nail polish remover, take it off and paint something else on them instead. Or leave them white. The white is still there under the polish!
I'd love to hear what you think of what I've written and shown you, and get your reaction in the comments below.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog!
Hope you have a great weekend!

That was really interesting! I like reading your posts because you're always very descriptive and it's easier to understand what's going on. So this was easy to read but really cool! I would have never known any of that about the air bubbles. But it does make sense when you think about it! Does the extra glue you put on make it harder to remove them when you're done wearing them? And also, how do you remove yours? Do you wait until they pop off or do you soak them in acetone? I'm really curious to know! :)
Hi Olivia! Ironically, the extra glue doesn't make it harder for me to remove the nails. I know that Kiss wants the nail removed with pure acetone. They even designED a special jar for dipping and removing. I've used it but it dries out my skin too much. I'm naughty. I wait until about 6 or 7 days into wearing the nails. By then, the glue as "cured" and I can pop the nails off with a large clipper. I don't recommend that. It's just what I do because I'm bad. ;p
Thanks for reading. I really do appreciate hearing from you. Take care!
These nails look so pretty on you. I do use the remover from Kiss, and I've found it doesn't dry out my skin at all. But I guess some products are not right for everyone, different body chemistry, etc. I sometimes don't have to remove a few of them, because after seven days, they've been subjected to so much dishwashing ( with gloves) and housecleaning, that they pop right off of my real nail. The rest I remove with the All in One.
Hi Thalie!
The All in One is a nifty product and does do what it says it will. It just unfortunately dries out my cuticles. I'm wondering now if I coated my cuticles with petroleum jelly and then dipped my nails, if that would make a difference?
It might help. I can't imagine how it would hurt.
You're telling me that I don't have to squash the nail & glue to my natural nail until my fingertip turns purple?? I had to chuckle, because as I was reading this post, I was busy "squashing" the ADHESIVE TABS & nails on (as if that'd cause them to stick better!?!) It just seems so... foreign! I absolutely take your word for it though, because your nails look gorgeous! I agree with a previous comment, you're very descriptive and everything makes perfect sense... your posts are so informative, not to mention - fun to read. Glad I stumbled upon Tiny Plastic Fingernails!! By the way, I was looking for reviews on the adhesive tabs that I just bought, when I found you. I had read about 8 other reviews before yours, and after getting your take, I don't feel the need to read another single review... you covered it all! Love it!!!!
Hi Amy! Thank you so much for your comments! I had watched many youtube videos of women pressing so hard on the nails, and they said they didn't get air bubbles that way. I tried it, and that didn't work for me. I guess they don't have flat nail beds like I do. The Kiss Webinar really helped me. I'm glad I could pass the info on to you and others.
Good luck with the adhesive tabs. Please come back and let us know how they worked for you. Thanks again for your comments. Reading them today truly made my day!
Hi Kay, thanks so much for this - I always get bubbles, but will be trying your technique with the next set. Do you use KISS glue/adhesive?
Hi Jellybelly-Yes I used Kiss pink gel nail glue (it comes with the nails) especially for the French tip nails. Thanks!
Thanks for this post, i just bought these fake nails and they were so affordable! I will try putting a lot more glue on the nails so that it stays on! I am excited to try them!
Hi.i just bought kiss everlasting French nails. I was wondering if I could paint them with regular nail polish that I use for my real nails. Not just the tip but the whole nail. This is my first time using them. Thanks..
You can polish the whole nail.
Great technique! I really appreciated the tips, and they worked really well! This was the first time I have used glue ons where they actually stayed glued on! Kiss is by far the best brand and I would recommend them to people who have a hard time finding nails which fit. Very excited for more posts!
